HARP Program

Milwaukee Bankruptcy Lawyers

With the introduction of a new Harp Program, under the Home Affordable Refinance Program, a large number of Wisconsin borrowers are able to lower their monthly mortgage payments by refinancing their current mortgage with the low mortgage rates available today. The Harp Program targets upside down borrowers, which are those who owe more on their mortgage than the value of their property.

The revised Home Affordable Refinance Program that was launched on March 19th will help struggling homeowners who are facing short sales and foreclosures with a refinance option that allows them to refinance into a fixed rate, lower rate mortgage without having to get an appraisal. Homeowners whose mortgages are held by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac qualify for this program.

Our mortgage modification attorneys can help you manage through all of the communications necessary to get your mortgage re-financed through the new Harp Program. In conjunction with filing a chapter 13 bankruptcy, we can help homeowners save their homes by making their mortgage payments more affordable.

Qualifying for the new Harp Program however, can be challenging. You must meet certain criteria set forth by HUD including that your current mortgage must be more than the current value of the home. You must not have any late mortgage payments in the past 30 days, and only one late mortgage payment in the past twelve months. You can check your Harp Program eligibility here.

If you find that you don't qualify for the new Harp Program, don't fret. Our mortgage modification attorneys have additional refinance solutions to explore for your situation. At the Bankruptcy Law Offices of Richard A. Check, S.C. in Wisconsin, we have helped many home owners save their homes through some type of re-finance solution. We have many relationships already established with several lenders to aid in the negotiation of mortgage refinance along with a Chapter 13 reorganization to help keep you on your financial feet.
